The year 2019 marked the 800th anniversary of the meeting between Francis of Assisi and Sultan Al-Malik Al-Kamil Al Ayoubi. At the time, Christians and Muslims saw each other as enemies, but Francis was received by the Muslim religious leader with benevolence and hospitality. From this visit onwards, Francis made important reflections on the mission of the Friars Minor. To remember this historic moment, FAMBRAS promoted a great celebration.

The ceremony brought together more than 500 people in the Muhammad Ali Noble Hall of the Mosque of Mercy and was a great manifestation of unity between the Catholic and Muslim communities. The religious authorities planted, on the outside of the hall, a White Ipe to symbolize peace and signed a letter of commitment for brotherhood between religions.
