FAMBRAS

Our History

The Federation of Muslim Associations in Brazil – FAMBRAS, was founded in 1979 by the visionary Hajj Hussein Mohamed El Zoghbi. At the time, the most important representatives of Islamic associations in the country gathered in Brasília. On the occasion, they expressed their full support for the creation of an entity that would commit to causes linked to the community and its institutions.

FAMBRAS works in the social, humanitarian, religious, economic and diplomatic spheres, with projects aimed at the dissemination of Islam and human development actions. The entity was also a pioneer in the implementation of the Halal concept and system in Brazil, becoming today the most important reference on Islam in the country and one of the main models in Halal certification in the world.

In the social and humanitarian area, FAMBRAS acts in an exemplary manner, both for the benefit of the Muslim community and the needy communities, offering food donations, medical assistance and scholarships, among other important actions.

As a philanthropic organization, the Federation has solid partnerships with national and international entities, which help it to carry out projects. Over its 40 years of existence, the entity has sought to build a more humane society.
